Los Cabos could connect with Dubai by 2030 through Emirates

The Los Cabos Tourism Trust presented its 2025 annual report, highlighting the arrival of 3.7 million tourists, representing a 0.6 percent increase

Los Cabos, Baja California Sur.-The Los Cabos Tourism Trust (Fiturca) presented its 2025 results report on February 17, confirming that one of its future connectivity projects includes a route to the Middle East through the airline Emirates.

Although Los Cabos does not yet receive a significant number of travelers from the United Arab Emirates, Fiturca’s General director, Rodrigo Esponda, explained that the airline’s strategy is to use Los Cabos as a connecting point with other regions and expand its network.

“It’s a project that, as the director mentioned, is part of their vision for all of Latin America by 2030. Los Cabos is included in that vision, so we simply need to strengthen the business case for it to move forward,” said Rodrigo Esponda, General director of the Los Cabos Tourism Trust.

Other air routes they are working to secure in order to connect the destination with new markets include: Montreal, Canada with Air Transat; Toronto, Canada with Porter; and London, England with British Airways. The UK market has increased its number of visitors over the past year and attracts travelers with high purchasing power.

For 2026, Fiturca confirmed three new routes connecting to the destination: Indianapolis and Las Vegas through Southwest, and Puebla through Volaris.

Tourism volume will no longer grow

In 2025, Los Cabos welcomed a total of 3.7 million visitors, representing a modest growth of 0.6 percent. Esponda Cascajares said they are no longer aiming to increase visitor numbers, as the goal is not to attract just any tourist.

“We are not looking for volume just for the sake of volume, but for visitors who generate benefits for the community. It may even be controversial to say that we will continue without significant growth, as we haven’t grown much in recent years. It’s the same tortilla; we’re simply making a better tortilla.”

To reduce dependence on the United States, its main market, more than 2,500 promotional actions were carried out last year, strengthening efforts in 21 markets including Canada, Spain, Japan, Australia, Italy, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Colombia, Argentina, and Brazil to attract visitors from other regions.

An example of this market diversification is the direct connection between Los Cabos and Germany, which began in 2024. After two seasons, the route has achieved a load factor of over 70 percent, allowing not only German travelers to arrive, but also visitors from France, Italy, the Netherlands, and other countries.
